Worship God | Connect with Others | Serve the World

Evangelism

"But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."  Jesus in Acts 1:8

Evangelism should be the practice every Christ-follower as well as a priority of the church. It is the process of connecting others to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Two areas of evangelism are important in order to fulfill Christ’s command.

The first area is OutreachOutreach is evangelism in the context of our personal relationships and encounters.  We call this effort our Invest and Invite strategy. Investing in others could have many faces, but ultimately is all about building relationships and earning the right to be heard. The natural next step is to invite these friends to a bridge event where they have the opportunity to meet other believers and hear the message of the gospel. The ultimate invite is to guiding them into a personal relationship with Christ.

The second area is MissionsMissions is evangelism focused on another culture. This could be around the world, the other side of our city, or across the street. Missions starts with understanding cultural differences and discovering ways to remove potential hindrances to accepting Christ’s invitation to the world’s greatest gift…salvation. The goal of missions is giving all people the opportunity to become a worshiper of God through sharing the life-changing message of Christ so they can understand and respond. We call this effort our WorldReach Strategy.

Acts 1:8 expresses our three areas of involvement in global missions:  "Jerusalem" is our local community; "Judea & Samaria" refer to our state & North America;  the "Ends of the Earth" refers to international missions.
